  • Adam Bardwell

    Adam is a former Special Forces Medic and the President and Founder of NONSTANDARD. He is a passionate Veteran’s advocate aiming to ensure that veterans remain mission-driven, retain a sense of community, and strive for greatness daily with clear and balanced mindsets. Adam believes that increasing access to Nonstandard Therapies will profoundly impact the Veteran community and prevent unfavorable outcomes. He is a motivated, outspoken, against-the-grain problem solver utilizing hard work and positivity to change the world. Adam’s favorite Nonstandard Therapy is Ice Baths.

  • Mariah Bardwell

    NONSTANDARD’s resident “Jill of all trades”, Mariah has a background in real-estate and spent eleven years as a military spouse. Mariah has found her home in the “milspo” community, by becoming an expert on the art of PCS/ETS moves and new community building. Mother of two & tender to many, her passion for helping others has always been front and center. Fellow military spouses looking to create their “village” in a new location have become her muse, as she believes the real happiness of our nation’s elite begins and ends at home. Mariah is dedicated to helping guide military spouses through adding Nonstandard Therapies to their family’s toolbox, and highlighting how they can positively impact the magnitude of their family’s impact on the world.

    Jeff is a Southern California native residing in San Diego, where he works as an Economist for the City of San Diego. From 2010 to 2014, he served as a 68W Combat Medic with the 10th Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Carson, CO. After his military service, he leveraged his GI Bill. He achieved a B.S. in Environmental Science and an M.A. in Economics from San Diego State University. Jeff has adopted several NONSTANDARD approaches to managing his physical and mental health, including cold water immersion, surfing, yoga, hiking, and Jiu-Jitsu. These practices have aided in his personal journey of healing and deepened his conviction in ensuring other veterans have access to the transformative power of these NONSTANDARD therapies.

    Dr. Michael Guirguis is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology and Harvard Medical School where he received his medical degree. Mike returned to Southern California where he completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Gurgius is also a graduate of the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy. He was sworn in as reserve Sheriff Deputy in 2003 and joined the San Bernardino Sheriff Air Rescue team. Dr. Guirguis continues to work clinically in Emergency Medicine and founded Raven Medical Support Group. Mike is a passionate mental health advocate looking to highlight the importance of Nonstandard Therapies for Veterans. Mike’s favorite Nonstandard Therapy is weight training.
